In 1990, Kathleen Keppinger started City Baking in the kitchen of her San Francisco apartment. The idea was to make the best-tasting scones from the freshest ingredients, delivered on time every day to coffee shops and cafes around the city, while servicing each account with fast, friendly, and exceptional customer service.
As the need for top quality baked goods grew, so too, did City Baking. We expanded our product lines and distribution area—making sure never to compromise the quality and service with which we started.
More than 20 years later we bake over 70 types of high quality, fresh baked goods and still follow the same philosophy. We actively service over 350 accounts from Santa Rosa to Sacramento all the way to Monterey—and everywhere in between.
All of our products, including our laminated (croissant) dough, are made on site daily using quality ingredients. We peel and mash bananas when they are at their ripest to ensure the best flavor in our signature item—our Banana Nut Bread. In fact, all of our baked goods are made fresh, every day, under the experienced supervision of our bakers—from fillings to toppings and batters to bars.
But it’s not just our fresh, quality products that keep our customers satisfied; it’s also our commitment to exceptional customer service. We treat all of our accounts as individual partnerships–working with each of them to provide their customers with a variety of products, yet we are still able to deliver the same great taste they expect. We have serviced Peet’s Coffee & Tea for over 18 years, and currently deliver to all of their Northern California stores.
We love what we do. We are passionate about baking. And, after 20 years, we still come to work every day excited to walk into the kitchen and soak in the amazing aromas, and tastes, that make baking so wonderful.
